Photos of some Dogs I have Trained

Emma, my German Short Hair Pointer(GSP) on alert to yet another bunny on our jog using a Longline. I don’t recommend a harness unless already trained on basic commands. German Short Hair Pointers are the most versatile hunting dogs with enormous stamina and prey drive. Owners must be able to meet this breed’s insatiable appetite for exercise.

Whaler, a Terrier mix is a pocket rocket, very smart with an extremely high prey drive. He retrieves with unmatched intensity. He needs both mental, physical, and structure to channel all his energy. A super fun dog!!

My big buddy Ursus, who I adore. I have trained Ursus off and on since he was 4 months old. In this picture he is 2 years old. He needs firm but fair training with a lot of patience since Akitas are independent thinkers and don’t necessarily like to please the handler. He is always so happy to see me!! I have learned much from Ursus in training dogs.

Uffus, a wonderful mix of Lab and Great Pyrenees, after our 30 minute walk wanting to stay outside for more in Portsmouth, RI

Luna, a Lagotto Romagnolo, Italy's adorable 'truffle dog. Despite their plush-toy looks, Lagotti are durable workers with an excellent nose to root out truffles. Getting Luna set up for success for the new owner.

Bully XL, who I met in my neighborhood. I was only person to walk him, beside owner. A gentle giant.

Dexter, a handsome, small, intelligent mix breed.

Introducing how to play tug with a Great Pyrenees puppy.

Cheddar and Reve are attentive. Cheddar(white Portuguese Water Dog) learning to be less reactive to anything moving in Portsmouth, RI.

Bandit

Plot Hound that I work on leash walking and building confidence in Newport, RI. Yes he has gold chain!

Ufus at 5 months, mix of Great Pyrenees and Lab. Very responsive and adorable!

English Springer Spaniel, Fenn, a wonderful dog to train!

2 year old Great Dane

Kira sitting pretty, my 2nd Akita I have trained this year. She is very well behaved but working on her leash skills. We switched from a no pull harness to a slip lead for training. She is progressing very nicely.

Emma, German Shorthaired Pointer and Roger, Weimaraner. Roger is neighbor dog who I see often though not trained.

Daisy, my wife’s dog. She was super fast, a joy to walk, and so sweet.

Penny, ready to go but needs more structure. Sweet girl.

Working with Nellie on Dog Leash Reactivity

Looking pretty nerdy with Birdie. I jumped off my bike(bike attire), put on my treat bag and donned my leash and retrieved my longline to begin training with sweet Birdie.

Adorable Chloe, one of the smartest dogs I have trained is a joy to work with!

Loki, Great Pyrenees, at 6 months learning his basic obedience. This breed is a gentle large guarding breed known for its fierce guarding/protective instinct if its herd is threatened.

Ursus back from training! Akitas are known for being very difficult to train due to their stubborness, reactivity to other dogs, and doing things at their own pace. Ursus however, through early socialization, highly structured training, is dog and people friendly! He is my big buddy!

Dolly and owner were great to work with. We worked on leash walking, sit, stay, recall over 5 sessions.

Emma and Max playing together! Both initiate play and trading off chasing each other as opposed to one always chasing the other. This is an excellent way to tire dogs out and then do some training.

Harley, 6 year old, always eager to please and loves training! Worked on leash walking and place command, greeting guest.

Worked with Handsome George and owners on his over excitement in greeting guest. Teaching Stay, Place, and Leash walking. He is happy guy!

Emma and Scout playing, 2 German Short Hair Pointers.

Scout and Emma both German Short Hair Pointers. Emma(background) is 20lbs heavier than Scout. What Scout lacks in size, he makes up for in energy. This is one of my favorite photos! This hunting breed is notorious for their energy levels so best suited for high energy owners who can meet these demands.

Ursus, an Akita, giving me his attention! Socialization is key for all dogs but is paramount with Akitas.

Oliver, simply adorable, happy, and willing to please!

Breeds and individual dogs have different playing styles so try to match them appropriately if in a playgroup. Be aware some dogs play rougher than others. Emma and Bix have a similar style, so all good.

Long line training for recall with Bix.

Moose needed work on his Dog reactivity while on walks, a common problem.

Molly and I going for a 3 mile walk!

Stella and Emma playing!

Toby my late Australian Cattle Dog.
